Sanger Insurance was originally founded in the early 1920’s by Miss Ella Warren. Miss Ella was a savvy business person and citizen and she successfully cultivated the business in an era when few businesses, much less financial ones, were run by women. She was the first person to ever receive the Sanger Citizen of the Year award.
Over the years, the insurance agency has been owned by a number of Sanger business and civic leaders, including Harold Easley and Tom Muir, local businessmen and land owners. John W. Coker, III owned the agency along with the town’s only funeral home. He also served as mayor and a Justice of the Peace. He sold the business in 1974 to Tom Muir’s son, Richard, who ran the business with his wife for over 30 years. During their ownership, the books of two other agencies were acquired and the agency earned appointments with several new insurance carriers.
The business was purchased in 2007 by Jeff and Michelle Springer, both long-time residents of Sanger. Like Miss Ella Warren, they continue the agency’s tradition of being involved in the local community. Both Jeff and Michelle serve on several municipal and charitable boards in Sanger and Denton and believe in supporting small business and giving back to their community and schools. Friendly, courteous customer service is a priority, along with finding the best insurance to fit each customer’s unique needs.
