A new year often means thinking about cleaning out, cleaning up, welcoming change and saying good-bye. It’s a great time to check in with your agent if you’ve made any changes which might require an insurance update.
The holidays bring gifts. Did you receive an item which needs to be added to your schedule? Maybe you gifted or sold an item which can be deleted from your policy. Either way, make a note of it and call your agent to make those changes.
Have you recently purchased a new vehicle, sold one or traded one in? If so, you’ll need to add the new one and delete the other. If you have a lien holder, that info will be necessary for a quote. Do any of your drivers have a new address? Perhaps you have a driver who needs to be removed or a new driver who needs to be added to your policy. Have you added a job? Many drivers these days work/drive for Uber or Lyft. Some insurance companies frown on the use of a personal vehicle for work related business. This definitely needs to be addressed and discussed with your agent.
If you own a business, have you expanded, purchased any new equipment, added or changed locations or made changes to ownership? If so, your policy may need to be endorsed or possibly rewritten.
Have you purchased a new property or a rental? Make sure property and liability coverage is in place.
If you’ve added to your current home or completed renovations, you’ll need to let your agent know as this information might change the replacement cost value of your home.
While speaking with your agent, you might check on your deductibles. Are they too high or too low? Both decisions affect your premium amount. You can discuss your options.
We always encourage our customers to purchase an umbrella policy. If you don’t have one in place, we can offer a quote on this type of insurance.
Our agency welcomes the opportunity to talk with you and get to know you better. We’re here to answer questions or assist with claims and other insurance needs. We wish you a happy and successful 2020!
